Religious Education
At All Saints’ our RE is taught in half-termly units where the theme centres round an over-arching question. A spirit of curiosity and enquiry are integral to our approach of encouraging children to investigate and reflect on fundamental questions about the meaning and purpose of life. Our curriculum is specifically designed to develop pupil’s knowledge and understanding of religious beliefs, practices and traditions and their influence on individuals, communities, societies and cultures. We also teach about some non-religious worldviews.
Our RE fosters a deep sense of respect and sensitivity towards others, especially towards those whose beliefs differ from our own, to combat prejudice. Pupils’ learning is enhanced with visits and visitors to ensure it is meaningful and relevant. The wide variety of experiences and activities on offer in RE encourage pupils to develop their individual spiritually and sense of identity; it also helps them to develop as well-informed citizens in a global community.
We use the ‘Big Frieze’ artwork panels which are displayed in our hall, alongside concept symbols, to teach about the key Christian concepts as seen through the Bible:
