Attendance

At All Saints' Junior School we believe that regular school attendance is one of the most important factors in helping children feel happy, confident and ready to learn. When children attend school every day, they benefit from consistent routines, strong friendships and continuous learning experiences that support their development.

Why Good Attendance Matters

Children learn best when they are in school regularly. Missing school can mean missing important learning, social time with friends, and opportunities to build confidence and independence. Even at a young age, good attendance helps children develop positive habits that will support them throughout their education.

We aim to work in close partnership with parents and carers to ensure that every child has the best possible start to their school journey.

Our Expectations

  • We expect all children to attend school every day unless they are genuinely unwell.
  • School starts promptly each morning, and arriving on time helps children settle calmly into the day.
  • Regular lateness can be unsettling for children and disruptive to learning, so we appreciate your support in arriving on time.

Illness and Absence

We understand that young children can sometimes be unwell. If your child is too ill to attend school, please inform the school office as soon as possible on the first day of absence before 9am by leaving a message on the school absence line on 01926 492991. Please do not email or text as these messages are not always picked up before registration.

If your child is absent for more than one day due to illness, continued communication with the school is very helpful. This allows us to support your child’s return to school smoothly.

Medical Appointments

Where possible, we ask that medical and dental appointments are arranged outside of school hours. If this is not possible, please let the school office know in advance and provide evidence of the appointment.

Holidays During Term Time

In line with government guidance, holidays during term time are not authorised, except in exceptional circumstances. Time away from school can have a significant impact on a child’s learning and progress, even in the early years.

Working Together

We know that every family’s circumstances are different. If you are experiencing difficulties that are affecting your child’s attendance, please speak to us. We are here to help and will always aim to work with families in a supportive and understanding way.

Together, we can give your child the best possible foundation for learning, friendships and future success.

ATTENDANCE EXPECTATION IS 96% - 100%

Please note that low attendance will be reported to the Warwickshire Attendance Service.

Late Arrivals/Late Collections

Any child arriving after 8.55a.m. must report to the office, where a record is kept as to the reason for the lateness. Regular lateness has to be reported to the WAS - Warwickshire Attendance Service – and constitutes an unauthorised absence.

If there is no one to collect your child by 3.25p.m he/she will move to the school office area whilst we try to contact you. If there is no one there to collect a child after 4pm, we will follow WCC guidelines. Please make sure you keep your contact telephone numbers up to date and that there are at least 3 contacts, as the guidelines recommend that the school tries all contact numbers, and if no one can be reached, we then contact Warwickshire Children’s Social Services, followed by the Police.
