Orchestra Of The Swan Visit
Wellbeing choir Visit Warwick Hospital
A group of year 6 pupils visited Warwick Hospital with Cerys from Warwickshire Music as arranged by the charity Kissing it better charity. Cerys fed back how fantastic the students were, they sang beautifully and showed real maturity and compassion towards patients and staff - as one patient said, ‘this has been the highlight of my week’.
Catie on behalf of the Kissing it better Charity said 'Huge thank you for today and bringing the group in to Warwick Hospital.
What a wonderful group of pupils, engaged, polite and friendly. I’m so glad they seemed to enjoy the visit and witness patients, waking up, singing and even dancing. There were so many lovely comments and thank yous from patients, relatives and staff. Their visit cheered up so many and made a huge difference, creating a real buzz on the wards.
The choice of songs were perfect and they sang beautifully.
Thank you to the whole school for creating and writing such thoughtful and colourful cards. These really brighten up bed side areas and cheer up patients who don’t have visitors.
Please come back again soon!'
Orchestra of the swan visit
We were lucky enough to have a visit from the Orchestra of the Swan! The children enjoyed a live performance from the orchestra which was so much fun to watch. We were also able to learn about instruments that were less familiar to us, including a harp and a viola. In addition to the performance, Year 4 enjoyed a rhythm workshop which was great fun. The violinists also participated in an instrumental workshop, which was an excellent opportunity to play with an orchestra.
Violin Christmas concert
All children who have violin lessons in school had the chance to perform to the rest of the school and their parents/carers this week. The concert was greatly enjoyed by everyone and was a lovely opportunity to see what the violinists have been learning in their lessons. It was amazing to see the progress that the children have made in their musical learning and their confidence in performing.
Rocksteady Christmas concert
This week, the children have watched or participated in the Christmas Rocksteady concert - the best one yet! It was an amazing opportunity for the children to perform and exhibit their musical skills, through a song of their own choosing. The children have been learning so much in their Rocksteady lessons about rhythm, notation and the importance of timing and teamwork in a band. The concert was brought to a close by an impromptu performance from several staff members!
End of Term Performances
We have recently enjoyed a range of end of term music performances, showcasing the children's amazing skills in guitar, violin and a range of instruments through Rocksteady. The performances were all greatly enjoyed by the school and it was lovely to see what the children have been learning in their music lessons. All the children had made so much progress since their last performances!
Performances to Parents
We have been so fortunate to have Jeremy and Hannah from Warwick a Singing Town working with us all year. The children's singing has improved amazingly and they are now able to perform collectively as a 'choir'. On Thursday 1st May, we held our first performances to parents - one for Y5 and Y6 and another for Y3 and 4 children and parents. The children did brilliantly and it was great to have so many parents joining in with some of the singing.
