Friction
In our Year 3 Science unit on ‘Forces and Magnets’, the children investigated which materials created the most and least amount of friction. They learned that friction is a type of force that can slow objects down. The children also discussed what makes a fair test and why it is important when carrying out investigations, helping them to develop their scientific enquiry skills.
Active Maths
In Maths, while learning to multiply and divide by 3, 4 and 8, the children took part in an active and engaging lesson. Working in pairs, they moved around the classroom to complete 15 different problem-solving stations, each involving division by 4. After solving each question, their answer guided them to the next station. This practical approach allowed the children to apply their division skills while working collaboratively. The children had a fantastic time and really enjoyed learning through movement and teamwork.
Calendars
As a special Christmas gift for their families, the children created beautiful collage calendars. They worked really hard cutting and layering different coloured paper to create their designs and were thrilled with the finished results.
Learning Afternoon
On Wednesday 12th November 2025, year 3 had their learning afternoon. We had a fantastic turn out of parents, grandparents and relatives. The children got to showcase their AMAZING topic homework and they got to try different activities. Some of the activities the children had done already in class e.g., Stone Age Art and Kennings poems, and some activities that we hadn’t e.g., using an atlas and making Stonehenge. Everyone seemed to have a super time and lots of smiles were seen all round.
The Good Samaritan
At the start of the year, the children explored The Parable of the Good Samaritan, linking it to our school values of working together, valuing everyone and learning for life. Through the use of drama, the children retold the story and deepened their understanding of kindness, cooperation and compassion.
