Donation of dictionaries from Warwick Rotary

Dictionaries Year 4 were lucky enough to each received a free dictionary! The dictionaries were gifted by Warwick Rotary club for each Year 4 pupil to keep for life. After receiving our dictionaries, we looked at how to use them by completing a dictionary skills scavenger hunt.

Visit from Severn Trent Water

Y4's had a visit from Severn Trent, we took part in a water saving assembly and then completed a workshop, where we considered ways of saving water and also activities that waste water. 

Festive Science

Over Christmas, we completed a Festive Science investigation, we considered different materials that would help muffle the sound of Santa’s boots. We made predictions and then investigated which material was the most effective insulator of sound. We also thought about fair testing and our independent and dependent variables.

Oracy Skills

In Year 4, we have been focussing on our oracy skills through speaking and through text immersion. In pairs and small groups, we have practised reading out different characters, text extracts, poems and scripts. We have been focussing on how we read aloud, through considering expression, volume, pitch and emphasis.

 

Pop Up Books

Year 4 have been busy making their own pop up books with moving mechanisms! We had fun experimenting with the different mechanisms, before designing and making our own pop up books.
