SEND and Inclusion
SEND Information at Emscote Infant School
At Emscote Infant School, we are committed to working together, valuing everyone, and learning for life. As a maintained infant school in Warwick with a diverse community, including pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), we understand the importance of providing tailored support to help every child thrive.
Supporting Pupils with SEND
Our SEND provision is designed to ensure that all pupils receive the support they need to access learning fully and develop their potential. We work closely with families, staff, and external agencies to create an inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported.
SENDCO Leadership: Our dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCO), Heidi Cartledge, leads the SEND team. Heidi ensures that all pupils with additional needs are identified early and receive appropriate, personalised support.
Warwickshire SEND Partnership: We collaborate with Warwickshire SEND services to access specialist advice, resources, and training. This partnership strengthens our ability to meet diverse needs effectively and keeps us aligned with local and national best practises.
Assess, Plan, Do, Review Cycle: We follow the Assess, Plan, Do, Review approach to SEND support:
-
- Assess: We carefully assess each pupil’s needs through observations, discussions, and specialist assessments.
- Plan: Together with parents and professionals, we create a Personalised Learning Plan (PLP) tailored to the child’s needs.
- Do: Targeted interventions and classroom adaptations are implemented by skilled staff.
- Review: Progress is regularly reviewed with families and adjusted as necessary to ensure continued growth and achievement.
How Our Vision and Values Guide Our SEND Support
Our vision to work together is reflected in the strong partnership between home and school. We believe that by valuing everyone, including those with SEND, we create a nurturing community where individual strengths are celebrated. This commitment to inclusion supports our ethos of learning for life, equipping pupils with the skills and confidence to succeed beyond their time at Emscote Infant School.
What This Means for You and Your Child
- Open communication is encouraged; parents are invited to be active participants in their child’s SEND journey.
- We provide regular updates and opportunities for meetings with Heidi Cartledge and teaching staff.
- Our woodland grounds and outdoor learning spaces offer unique, sensory-rich environments that enhance learning and well-being for all pupils, including those with SEND.
- We ensure that pupils with SEND have full access to school events, trips, and activities, fostering a sense of belonging and achievement.
Next Steps
If you have concerns or questions about your child’s needs, please contact Heidi Cartledge, our SENDCO, via the school office. We welcome the chance to discuss how we can support your child’s learning and development within our caring community.
