Gold Sports Mark Award
We are delighted to share that we have achieved the Gold Sports Mark award for this year. We are really fortunate to have so many sporting opportunities available to our children, both in and outside of school. Thanks go to Mrs Wilkins, who is our PE and Sport leader, for all her hard work and organisation skills.

School Games Mission
Putting physical activity and competitive sport at the heart of schools and providing more young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their personal best.
The School Games aims to provide every child with a positive experience in an environment where the young person’s motivation, competence and confidence are at the centre of the competition.
The different events and competitions offered in our area are classified as follows:

These activities are non-competitive and target pupils who would benefit from being more physically active..

These events are for pupils who enjoy friendly competition but don’t want to solely focus on winning and losing

These competitions are for pupils who enjoy performing and competing against others.

Competition4U events are targeted for specific groups of children.
Cross Country Race
Dodgeball Tournament
On the 10th of November, 8 of our year 5 children took part in a dodgeball tournament. They played against other school from the area, and had to score each team on some of the school games values which were: teamwork, honesty and respect. Our children had a brilliant time and it really made them think about how they played the game, how they included everyone and supported their fellow team mates.
Girls Football Festival
On Tuesday, 20th January, 10 girls from years 5 and 6 went to Newbold Comyn Leisure centre for a football festival. The girls took part in skills session as well as a couple of games against other schools. There were some year 8 and 9 students from Campion secondary school who were coaching all of the girls. Even though most of the girls who went to the event weren't really footballers, they all had a brilliant time, and really got involved with all aspects of the event. Some even scored their 1st goal. The girls showed great team work and were fantastic advocates for our school.
Year 5 Hockey Workshop and Tournament
The children were very lucky to be trained by the Director of Hockey, from Warwick School.
Some of our children had never played Hockey before, so they learnt a new skill.
They worked very well as a team and showed respect to their opposing teams by congratulating the winners with a hand-shake and a 'Well done!"
Despite the rainy weather we experienced all morning, they persevered and played the game with confidence and determination, right till the end.
They came third in the Semi Finals, which was a fantastic achievement.
The Year 5 children did an amazing job representing AS Juniors
A great morning overall, with yet another successful, sports event!
Indoor Rowing Event
On the 6th of November 8 of the year 6 children took part in a rowing event that took place at Newbold Comyn leisure centre. They worked together as part of a team to complete 2 different races. An individual race, where their scores would be put together to see how far they could row and a relay race, where they had to switch between rowers quickly. Throughout their time at the races, the children showed great team work, cheering on their fellow class mates, and amazing effort when rowing.
Competition4U Rowing Event
On Wednesday 5th November, four Year 6 pupils represented our school brilliantly at the Competition4U Rowing event held at Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre. Alongside many other schools, they took part in individual timed challenges on rowing machines and a mixed relay race. Throughout the day, the children also had the chance to try a range of inclusive activities, including boccia, table tennis, Jenga, noughts and crosses, and several other games.
They all had a fantastic time, showed great enthusiasm, and said the experience was amazing. We are incredibly proud of their effort and sportsmanship!
